Corning's plan to control the clock with a multitude of plays nearly played in it's favor. What the Hawks did not plan for was a big play from Maine-Endwell's shifty wingback Luis Uceta. Ball control was the order of the day for the Hawks, but factor in wind, rain, fumbles, and penalties to spice up this latest meeting of two talented teams.

Following a scoreless first quarter, the Hawks produced the game's only touchdown of the first half when Tanner Morse sliced in from the Spartan three yard line. Tack on the two point conversion and that score would hold up until the opening seconds of the fourth when Adam Gallagher pulled in a three yard pass from his brother Kyle. Add the two point conversion and all of a sudden it was 8-8.
With less than five minutes to play, the Hawks marched to the M-E three, but could not convert on 4th and goal. Enter Luis Uceta. Taking a handoff at the three, he swept right, cut down the sideline, and nearly outran the field as he raced nearly 97 yards to the Corning one inch line. Enter the Gallagher brothers, and, two plays later, created another score with a touchdown pass and two point pass conversion to make it 16-8 Spartans. Corning had the ball with one minute to go but fumbled. M-E then ran out the clock to protect it's perfect record at 6-0. The Hawks drop to 4-3 following this non-division game.
