Ithaca, NY - The Binghamton Patriots put a damper on Senior Night festivities at Ithaca High School, defeating the Little Red 41-12 in the final game of the regular season for both teams.

Midway through the second quarter, Ithaca's Michael Gilmore ran 51 yards for a touchdown; a two-point conversion by Wesley Sanders made it 20-12 Binghamton, but Ithaca would get no closer.

Binghamton's first drive of the game ended with a two-yard touchdown run by Daniel Sellepack, followed by a successful extra point kick. Ithaca's ensuing drive would also wind up in the end zone thanks to Chase Venuto's quarterback sneak from the one-yard line. The extra point attempt was blocked by Binghamton, which then drove back down the field and scored with 20 seconds left in the first quarter to build a 14-6 lead.

With the ball deep in its own end after recovering a Binghamton fumble, Venuto threw a pass that was tipped in the air and intercepted by Patriots linebacker James Grayson, who then ran it in for the touchdown and a 20-6 lead with 7:04 remaining in the first half.

Once Gilmore's run cut the lead to 20-12, Binghamton would score three unanswered touchdowns to seal the victory - one coming with 4:04 left in the second quarter, and two more in the second half.

In a pregame ceremony, the team paid tribute to its graduating class of Thomas Cornelius, Richie Gillespie, Tijah Henderson, Evan Reynolds, Venuto, Ryan Hallisey, De'Marquis Graves and John Ciaschi. Also honored were the seniors on the varsity cheerleading squad, including Matty Lynn Kuhar, Catherine Watkins, Haley Sammis and Alexa Miller.

Ithaca ends the season at 1-7, while the win improves the Patriots' record to 5-2. The two teams will play again at Binghamton next week in the Section 4 Class AA semifinals.
