Vestal, NY - The Ithaca Little Red scored three unanswered touchdowns in the fourth quarter - including one on the game's final play - and shocked the Vestal Golden Bears 33-30 in Vestal's home opener.

It was Ithaca's first win of the season after starting out 0-3, while Vestal fell to 1-2.

Ithaca opened up the game with two straight touchdowns to build a 13-0 lead. Vestal would then reel off 30 unanswered points to go up 30-13 early in the fourth quarter.

"We made our mind up when it was 30-13 that we weren't going to go away this time," said Ithaca High School head football coach Ed Redmond.

A 71-yard run by Tyrel McKoy made it 30-19, and a successful two-point conversion made it 30-21 with 10:43 remaining. With 7:15 to go, Eli Lasda cut Vestal's lead to a field goal with a three-yard touchdown run.

With two seconds left on the clock and the ball just outside the Vestal 30-yard line, Little Red quarterback Chase Venuto handed the ball off on a draw play to McKoy.

While it appeared McKoy was stuffed at the line of scrimmage to end the game, Redmond said McKoy fumbled the football, which was then picked up by offensive lineman Matt Frick, who ran untouched into the end zone for the game-winning touchdown.
